This is where it all started … Cape Town 2010 … Cape Grace Yacht Club … where we stayed for about 4 weeks prior to our crossing of the Atlantic to Trinidad. Just across from us was the Gunboat 66 … called Phaedo … a very distinctive burned orange colour ( Gunston orange) … we could not believe that we run into her in the BVI waters! … It was a great feeling to see the big black sails of Phaedo…
Then… in that same year… when we arrive in Grenada … at the Port Louis Marina in St George… again … a beautiful Oyster named KOLUKA was busy docking. Johann went across to say hi and wanted to have a look at the interior of the boat. A very friendly young English guy was the skipper… 2 years later we docked at Nanny Cay … and there they were … right behind us!! Recognised Johann and Scolamanzi!
And then these was LAGUZ…
… Johann’s previous practice nurse, Phoebe, sent me a message one day shortly after we have left to say that she has relatives on a boat sailing in the Caribbean … the boat is called Laguz and it is a gunboat – they are easy to recognise but … what would the chances be finding them in the Caribbean? We will not stop anywhere in the Caribbean windward or leeward islands except for Trinidad …and the chances to see them in the BVI with all the thousands of beautiful places to go to in the Caribbean?…is second to none! … Well we did bump into them at the Baths! And what a pleasant surprise for both yachts it was!!!
In the end … the cruising world is a small world after all…. and I am sure we might run into them again somewhere … maybe in the Azores or in the Med?
Wonderful, wonderful!!! Like you new hat Johann. Wish I was there, tons of loveXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
