We left Dénia early in the morning of the 28th of June for a quick 7 hour sail to Ibiza. With hardly enough time to tidy up the boat and do all the normal household chores and get us ready for the new venue! Phil has briefed me on what to expect of San Antonio (our port of entry into Ibiza) – he worked here for a while and knew all the ins and outs of the place!
Approaching it gave me a feel of Gold Coast on steroids. It is pretty built up and wherever you look was a beach with massive amounts of people soaking up the through every inch of skin they can expose … and trust me… lots of skin … and very little covering up! The only difference is the body shapes and sizes! Amazingly beautiful people are roaming the beaches and streets in San Antonio! The first uncovered boobs attracted everyone on board’s attention! You almost feel like staring but felt to awkward and flinch away from the sight of golden tanned well-formed body parts. By the end of the first day you would still notice them, you look but it all crosses your sight so often that you almost become blasé!
Here people would go to town (shopping) or going to a restaurant for lunch or dinner in a bikini with something just covering slightly more than the bikini does. It is all very casual. I was walking around in a pair of shorts that I would not dare wearing at home and it felt like I have just stepped out of an ancient time capsule dressed by nuns! The shorts here are HOT-HOT pants … the tops are flimsy or very tight fitting and the shoes beautiful and as the sun sets become stilts! Phil and Johann still feel my wardrobe needs a pair of very high heels and a leopard print outfit! Not quite comfortable with the later!
Here life is a beach and nights are alive! Our first Cerveza and Sangria were at the Beach Bar (30min after dropping the anchor!) with the dingy tied to the table leg and feet in the sand …and many more at various different beautiful restaurants and pubs!:-) Needless to say – I did not get to do much cooking on board (I was not complaining at all!) We were on the streets from early morning till lunch (then the boys needed to recharge having a quick siesta) just to be in time to have a shower and get dressed for the night! The first night we have decided to go smart! So … all dressed up and we found a great restaurant on the promenade where we thought to have a few drinks – the people passing by on the promenade were too entertaining for the boys to leave, so we stayed, had dinner and then went inside when the music started for a last sangria. Not realising it I found myself for the first time in my life in a NIGHT CLUB! (My boys will have a bit of a laugh about this one. They use to tell me that I could not join them into the night clubs because there is an age limit of much lower than mine to get in! ).
Thank goodness we were “dressed-up”, otherwise I would have missed this one too! I am very glad to see that it is just another “controlled” fun area for young people (we struggled to blend in!) where everyone with or without a partner can dance and groove to the music. It was great to see that the security was very tight and no misbehaving was tolerated! It was one funny night! All in all… we made it out in the early morning hours!
Writing this blog now, I cannot believe we have only been there for 3 nights – It felt like we have been there a week! This was an excellent way of ending the two week’s sail with Phil! He reminded us a few times that he does not want to go… I felt sorry for him…leaving sunny Ibiza for the wettest winter in the UK!
We hope you and Mel will be able to join us again at some stage! You were just fabulous fun to have on board! You gave me a break from doing all the ropes and fenders and brought a lot of laughter along …tell you what Phil, my system needed a break from San Antonio! And Mel… if only you know how many times we have thought of you and had a drink on you! Here’s to “Poor Mel” that had to stay at home! Can’t wait to have you over … Maybe only then will we be able to go to one of those Animal Parties and get properly dressed up! 🙂
