Our last stops in Mallorca – Platya des Trenc, Puerto Colom

Soaking in the awesome coast and the blue bays as we sailed around the south coast, we headed for Platya des Trenc. Lientjie and I could not wait to get into the blue water for our daily exercise and enjoyed every moment we could get to dive into absolute crystal clear water!

Sunsets became a photo opportunity and a drink to top it off. We could not wait to try the stuffed squid we have bought in Palma at fresh markets and being my first too, found it to be an interesting delicious delicatessen in Mallorquin style!

Puerto Colom – my outright favourite place , again did not disappoint me this time either. We only stayed one night (from where we hired a car to explore some inland towns) and made the most of our time roaming the streets and shops before heading the next morning for Menorca. It end up a perfect quiet spot to service the Genset (generator) – I was just too glad that Lientjie could take over as assistant for the captain in order for me to catch up with blogging and posting it on the internet. I had to work till 4.30am the next morning to get it all done before leaving at our last good internet hub! Very blurry eyed the next morning, Johann sent me back to bed as he took on the crossing of 6 hours to Menorca! – a very generous gesture, thanks Johann! I was just too happy to oblige!

You will need Adobe Flash downloaded to see the picture slide show underneath every post I made!

Back to Palma … forced by a stuffed up toilet!

The master bedroom’s toilet has been playing up now for a while – Johann has just about replaced every part available in the service kid when we have discovered the real problem! The pipes are blocked up with calcium deposits! Trying to clean the pipes after disconnecting and removing it ( a pretty shitty job let me tell you!) still did not resolve the problem. So we ar heading back to Palma to get it sorted out once and for all. Johann’s getting a bit sick of this smelly job that seems to just go on and on !

We sensed that he needs assistance but there is just no way that we are going to go through that again! We found just enough reason to excuse us from the boat for the few hours between midday till just before sunset to go and get some fresh provisioning – seeing that we will be heading for a small island near Ibiza (Isla de Formentera and then S’Espalmador) where there are hardly any shops never mind fresh produce!

The shopping was so much fun – we totally under estimated our transport capabilities and ended up with way too much stuff and too many heavy bags to carry … so we “borrowed” a small trolley ( the small once that look similar to what old people use to go and do shopping with) from the shop to cart our purchases back to the boat. Every now and then we were stalled by a laughing fit with people staring and probably wondering how far away did we park our car! Half way to the boat we had to stop to refuel … we had an ice cold Cerveza pequeña (small beer). With legs being affected by the beer (as they do) and a trolley that sounds like a train going down the cobbled stone roads ….the giggles increased as we went and so did the stares! Luckily the dinner has been cooked early this morning (and is sitting happily in the wonderful Thermos cooker – the “no energy” pot that saved my life many a times!) and we could relax as soon as we hit the deck!

For the last time we had our own sangria on board enjoying the sunset over the cathedral…. And frantically trying to upload our last photographs before leaving the internet hub! Off to Ibiza.. a very special last stop with my sister … but before that … Formentera: la isla de S´Espalmador

As we left the next morning, Johann had to make contact with his business partner (Reyno) in Australia and amazingly enough could still Skype for quite some time after we started motoring out of the harbour of Palma!
